Over the last decade Ireland has seen many changes. The economy has grown and flopped, governments have flipped and changed. Ireland has emerged as a technology centre in Europe with companies like Google, Facebook and Drop Box all picking Ireland as the ideal location for their European headquarters. As unexpected as all that those changes were, one more thing has occurred which was taken the country by surprise.

Who would have guessed that the cold, and murky wind swept shores of Irelands west and north coasts would emerge to rank amongst the worlds top surfing destinations?

Well, it's true. Off the Northwest coast of Ireland places like Eskey and Bundoran are attracting thousands in surf tourism to Ireland.

Seaside surf villages like Lahinch Beach in Clare are surfing nurseries for up and comers. While only a few miles away, near the Cliffs of Moher, the Irish Big wave surf spot "Aileens" brings some of the worlds most hardened surfers to experience the challenging and powerful giant emerald wave.

Since 2010 Rose Travel has proudly partnered with Rabbie's Trail Burners in planning tours to beautiful Ireland. 2012 marks the end of a second successful year of touring in Ireland for Rabbie's. So whats next?

2013 is looking bright indeed. Rabbie's has announced more departures on their already successful and much enjoyed Escape to the West 5 Day tour of Ireland, starting in Dublin this tour visits Galway, the Cliffs of Moher, Dingle Peninsula and the Ring of Kerry just to mention a few of the great places experienced on the tour.

Following on the success of this tour Rabbie's have also introduced a spectacular new tour for 2013 - Northern Ireland & Atlantic Coast 5 day Tour of Ireland. Again starting in Dublin this tour visits Drogheda, Belfast, Giants Causeway, Derry, Donegal, Ben Bulben, Achil Island, Connemara, Cong and Galway.

The final new offering by Rabbie's in their great series of Ireland tour experiences is the All of Ireland 9 Day Tour. This is a breath taking journey through, you guessed it... all of Ireland from Dublin to Belfast, Giants Causeway, Derry Westport, Connemara and Kylemore Abbey. From here the expedition continues south from Galway to the Cliffs of Moher, Killarney, Dingle, and the Ring of Kerry.

Fáilte Ireland operates the National Tourism Standards Quality Approval

Bus & Coach Tourism Operator Quality Award

Fáilte Ireland operates the National Tourism Standards Quality Approval programme and to date just 16 bus and coach companies has achieved the requisite standard to be approved to hold the accolade.

One of these companies is Rose Travel, a company set up 18 years ago at Flemby Bridge in Ballymacelligott. There are around 1,700 licensed operators in Ireland and only 1% of these can lay claim to having the Standards Quality Approval rating.

The assessment for qualification stresses five key areas, customer care, preparation, booking and service standards and coach facilities.

Rose Travel was set up by John and Breda Murphy in 1994 with one taxi and developed to service clubs, schools, business and societies. An international operator’s licence was obtained in the mid-1990s and today Rose Travel has ten regular and ten part-time drivers.

“All our drivers undergo professional training. This includes eco-driving techniques, risk and emergency management and health and safety training. Buses are still the safest, greenest and most cost-effective way to travel on Irish roads. We hope that by achieving higher standards, like the Fáilte Ireland Quality Approval, and continued driver training, we will stand out from the crowd locally and nationally,” John Murphy said.

“In the last ten years we focused on improving our standards, broadening our market and targeted the coach tourism business. We are members of the prestigious Coach Tourism and Transport Council of Ireland and to have achieved Quality Approval from Fáilte Ireland will be another great boost to our company,” he added.

The Tralee Wetlands Centre activity park & nature reserve is an exciting development and one of the largest new tourism developments in the south west of Ireland.

The €4.5 million project has been developed by Tralee Town Council with Failte Ireland support.
